We are seeking to appoint a person with a proven track record in supporting young people to enjoy their teenage years, succees and achieve and transform their communities. It is essential that applicants have a background in youth work, a sound understanding of the youth work curriculum and involving young people in the running of services.

The London Borough of Enfield has created an Integrated Youth Support Service and 3-year Youth Strategy. This consists of teams of youth workers and personal advisers, Summer Uni Team, a Youth Volunteering Service, Teenage Pregnancy Unit and partnerships with other Council services and the 3rd Sector.

We have invested an additional £460,000 to extend the opening of 2 of our Youth Centres to 7 days per week.

This vacancy will develop these Youth Centres under the leadership of the Youth Work Manager. The centre has recently gained £3 million from the My Place funding programme for a new world class youth facility. This qwill be a flagship for the Borough

    Remuneration for post-qualification teaching experience will be a maximum of ten years at the following rates:

    $700 per annum for every two years of experience acquired after 1st July 1999    

    Successful applicants will be offered two (2) or three (3) year contracts and will receive a 15% gratuity upon satisfactory completion of the terms of the contracts.

    Applications are invited from qualified and experienced teachers to teach the following subject(s) in the High Schools of the Commonwealth of The Bahamas beginning 23rd August 2010:

    • Mathematics
    • Language Arts

    Requirements for the post are:

    • Bachelor’s Degree in the relevant subject area from an accredited institution and Teacher’s Certificate, Post-graduate Diploma or Diploma in Education;

                                                                    AND

    • A minimum of five (5) years post-qualification experience.

    The salary range of the post is $25,200 - $34,300 (Bahamian Dollars) per annum in the scale of S12A. Entry
    to the salary scale will be determined by qualifications and experience:
    Teacher’s Certification and a Bachelor’s Degree: $25,200 per annum
    Remuneration for post-qualification teaching experience will be a maximum of ten years at the following rates:

    $350 per annum for every two years of experience acquired prior to 4th July 1999
    $700 per annum for every two years of experience acquired after 1st July 1999    

    Successful applicants will be offered two (2) or three (3) year contracts and will receive a 15% gratuity upon satisfactory completion of the terms of the contracts.

    Durham Newly Qualified Teaching Pool
    Durham Local Authority will operate a pool for newly qualified teaching
    appointments. The pool is for teaching appointments to be made in the
    academic year 2010-2011. Applications are open from November 2009, and
    are invited from students currently in their final phase of initial teacher training.
    We accept applications from both primary and secondary NQTs.
